The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the event industry’s virtual standstill. For this reason, PCMA has been conducting its biweekly survey and has asked event professionals and suppliers about their expectations and planning for the future.

The COVID-19 Recovery Dashboard has surveyed 515 professional event planners and 240 suppliers. Questions revolved around the crisis’ impact on their revenue expectations, the long-term implications of the digital event technology’s rise as well as the business events industry’s different recovery scenarios and more. The study has shown that 73 percent of all suppliers expected a revenue decline of more than 75 percent over the next three months, for example. Whilst most planners and suppliers believe that face-to-face attendance will suffer greatly due to the increased use of digital event technology in the next three months, they continue to be confident that the impact will somewhat subside in 2021. Compared to previous answers, more planners and suppliers have come to believe that small, regional events will be the first to lead the way back out of the crisis. Read PCMA’s COVID-19 Recovery Dashboard to learn more about the expectations and planning within the business events industry.
